Viva Las Vegas 17 - Part 3

Saturday at Viva Las Vegas is the day of the car show, showcasing hundreds of classic cars, hot rods and rat rods, which are all strictly pre-1963. The car show was a definite highlight of the weekend for me, this year.

I had so much fun walking around in the sunshine with my sweetheart, running into friends and looking at all the beautiful cars.  It really tickles me just how excited Loverboy gets about cars!  Our outfits du jour, were...

Cassandra Cadillac jumpsuit made from vintage harlequin-print fabric, accessorized with a pink dinkie roller necklace by Pip Jolley Jewellery, pink glitter hoop earrings by Bow and Crossbones, and vintage cat-eye sunglasses.

Aaron wore a purple aquatic-print Sun Surf Hawaiian shirt, which is covered in fish and starfish, and matched it with a pair of green shorts.

We are not afraid of pattern and colour!

We spent a quite a while looking at the cars, at which point, this is pretty much my view...

It usually gets quite hot at the car show, and this year was no exception.  The weather was glorious, and I loved seeing all the playsuits and summery dresses that the ladies were wearing!

I also liked seeing what the guys were wearing, including this great shirt worn by Lil' Mo!

I have never seen as many parasols in my life, than at the VLV car show.  I don't own one, as I'm too lazy to carry one around, but I did borrow a couple during the course of the day, for photo-taking purposes!

Laurence of Lost in the 1950s definitely didn't need a parasol with this amazing hat!

Along with vendors selling all sorts of things from clothing, accessories and hair pomade, to shoes, hair flowers and jewellery (why yes, I did return to the stall that sells three pairs of bakelite earrings for $50!) there is also live music throughout the day.  This year we caught Imelda May and one of my favourites from the weekend, the legendary Lloyd Price.

Lloyd Price, R&B legend, and inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Lloyd Price is known as 'Mr Personality' (named after his hit song 'Personality'), and I have to say that at 81 years old, he still has it in bucket loads.  I've seen quite a few original recording artists, including Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis at the Viva car show over the past few years, and in my opinion, this guy blew them all out of the water.

Lloyd Price backed by an all-star band including musicians such as Bobby Trimble and Chris 'Sugarballs' Sprague.

It's always exciting, but at the same time a little sad to see the old timers playing their hits that we still dance to today, with sometimes shaky voices and a slowed-down rhythm.  This was definitely not the case with Lloyd Price.  That man is energetic, and he can sing!

My favourite Lloyd Price song is 'Stagger Lee', and he put on a staggeringly good show!

Watching the show with these two!

We ended up spending nearly all day at the car show, as we were having so much fun!  Then it was time to grab a quick meal and get glammed up for Saturday night at Viva Las Vegas....to be continued...

    1. Thanks Kate-Em! It's good to know that I am not just waffling on, with no-one interested, apart from me! Hahahhahha! The photos are a combination of mine and Aaron's - he has kind of become the unofficial photographer for my blog! :)

  6. Let's try this again...blogger wouldn't let me comment earlier :( Now I know what the car show looked like in the day! I sure wish I loved the sun and heat as you both do! Keeps me from seeing so much at Viva :( Hopefully the Rock Out won't be as hot but I doubt it!

    1. Blogger is being really annoying - I am having a hard time even adding my responses to the comments! Thank you for persevering! :) I am sure the Rockout will be a lot cooler, as October isn't usually so hot in Vegas...I think!
