1940s Relived...Relived!

A couple of weekends ago, loverboy and I headed down to Weybridge for the second annual 1940s Relived event at the Brooklands Museum.

You may recall my post from last year's event, where the two of us adopted a nautical/sailor theme for the day.  Funnily enough, our take on the iconic image of 'the kiss' ended up being used in a lot of the publicity for this year's 1940s Relived.

We stumbled upon this photo of us in Vintage Explorer Magazine and Best of British Magazine.

If you follow me over on Instagram, you will have already seen some of my pictures, as I posted a few snaps throughout the day....

This year, the blue colour scheme of our outfits was replaced with green!   The hubs looked very handsome in his vintage US army uniform, and this was my first opportunity to wear the vintage gabardine coat that he surprised me with a little while back.

I still managed to find some sailors though...

Due to a very murky weather forecast, the music and dancing took place in a marquee this year - although in the end, the weather turned out to be quite settled, with not one drop of rain all day!

 V for Victory!

Dance lessons were taught throughout the day by Paul Crook and Natasha Hall of The Swing Time Dance Company, with music courtesy of Jeff 'Two-Tone Boogie', so everyone had a chance to get up on the dance floor and shake their tail feathers!

Natasha's Pretty Me Vintage team were also on hand to provide vintage makeovers.  I didn't capture any photos of their makeovers, but you may remember that Natasha did my wedding hair and make-up for me...

There were more vendors at this year's event, selling vintage and reproduction clothing, including my lovely friend Lolly of Lolly Doll Clothing.  If you haven't checked out her ladieswear yet, then you should take a peek, as she has a lot of cute items for sale!

As well as offering the opportunity to buy a lot of stylish clothing, the event was also the perfect chance to show off some amazing vintage outfits in the best dressed competitions...

...judged by Winston Churchill, of course!

The Brooklands Museum is the perfect backdrop for this type of event, as it features the 1940s Wellington Hangar, a 1930s Motoring Village and an original 1907 banked racing track - which totally reminds me of that last car racing scene in the movie Grease.

We saw a lot of beautiful cars, but I fell in love with one dusky green Plymouth in particular...

There were lots of military vehicles and re-enactments going on, so loverboy fit right in...

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaandsome...*swoon*...

I found these to be really creepy....

Another fantastic day out, and we are sure to go back next year....but before then, we will most likely be heading back to the Brooklands Museum next month for the Double Twelve Motorsport Festival - where this time, the music and styling will be based around the 1950s.
