Well, it's 14 days 'til Christmas, and judging by all the lovely comments on my last post (thank you!) I'm not the only one who is feeling festive!
We headed to Portobello Market last weekend - primarily so that I could visit What Katie Did, as the market itself has become a little disappointing, from my own personal shopping perspective, over the last couple of years.
I had a lovely time in WKD, not only because the helpful shop assistants plied me with mini mince pies and mulled wine but also because I treated myself to a new purchase...*wink*....whilst loverboy waited patiently. Although, really, it was probably just as much fun for him, as he got to eat mince pies whilst watching me try on various undergarments....*wink*...
Those mince pies put us in the mood for dancing, and as we wandered past various stalls blasting music, we added a little jive to our day out. If you have been reading the blog for a while, you will know that we rather enjoy dancing in the streets...
Our impromptu boogie was good preparation for an evening of dancing at R'n'R Old School's Rockin' Christmas Party which we attended on Saturday night. The turn out was smaller than usual, but we still had fun, with more space on the dance floor!
Sunday was brunch day, and we headed to the Alice House in West Hampstead for a cooked breakfast and a catch-up with friends. The food was yummy, but whilst I enjoyed my eggs royale, when I saw the pancakes that my friend ordered, I had a moment of food envy and decided that I would have to return to try them! The sight of those puffy, fluffy pancakes made me nostalgic for our Team Brunch outings in the USA...
We ended the weekend by watching The Sapphires. If you haven't seen it yet, I would highly recommend this movie - it is thoroughly enjoyable, with a fantastic soundtrack to boot.
Now, a change of subject, but with the new year approaching, I have been thinking of how to improve my blog. I am reluctant to change the name, although, I feel that as I am no longer a blonde, it seems a bit strange now...
Also I have been thinking of perhaps updating the look and layout - what do you think? Would you prefer an updated design? How do you find the colours and theme overall? Is it easy on the eye when reading?
Finally, what would you like to see more of? Should I start doing outfit posts? Would you like any tutorials? Please feel free to offer any input on which posts you have enjoyed reading, and what you would like to see featured more on Incendiary Blonde. All suggestions welcome!

I saw the stage version of the Sapphires rather randomly! The cast were very good, and as you say, it's lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteI love your posts!! It's refreshing to read a blog that structures content the way you do, I like reading about your adventures and feeling jealous of your delicious outfits at the same time!

Oooh was the stage version in London?! I'd like to see it on stage too!
DeleteThanks for the lovely feedback! I guess I will just keep doing what I'm doing... ;)
It was an Australian production over at the Barbican, think it was last year? They did a short run, maybe 2 weeks! Who knows, with the film out they might pop over again:)

So many fur hats to choose from! And I love seeing your fabulous ensembles, so outfit posts would be neat. :)
ReplyDeleteI know - I didn't actually buy one, but I was tempted!
DeleteThanks for the feedback Lisa - I will start adding some outfit posts/photo details of outfits to the blog!
Oh that coat! And all of those furs! I am absolutely drooling over the fact you got to go to a What Katie Did store! I'm clamoring to get to the one in LA!

It is a beautiful shop! Unfortunately, I find that many of their bullet bras - as much as I love them - don't fit my shape very well. This time, however, was a success and I walked away with one of their lovely cone bras which is a great fit and very comfortable! xx
DeleteAre those all fur hats?
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help but notice your manicure. Wow, what perfect half moons!
They sure are! There were sooo many of them!!!
DeleteThank you - I used the good old paper hole reinforcement sticker technique! :) It isn't really noticeable, but they are a festive red glitter polish too!
Hi gorgeous gal, love your leopard print coat here. I've been on the prowl (subtle cat pun intended) for a similar one for ages. I think your posts are great and believe that bloggers (especially those who are blogging for fun/because they love it, not to earn their daily bread) should always post about what they want, more than catering to their audience (if the two go hand-in-hand, great, but again, it's best to stick to posting about what you most want to). That said, outfits posts are always awesome! It's so wonderful to see the vintage fashions that others in out community wear and to be inspired by their awesome senses of yesteryear style.

Heheh, thank you Jessica! I scored mine on good old ebay a little while back. I wish the sleeves were a little longer, but I often find that with vintage coats. I need to get some longer gloves! :)
DeleteThanks so much for the feedback - it is much appreciated! <3 I think I will start doing some outfit posts, if not, at least adding more photos of outfit details. Although that will probably be reserved for indoor events/springtime, as I foresee all my immediate wanderings about town involving heavy coats...! xxx
I definitively must go back to London... my last time was in 2009 after Rockabilly Rave... But I don't think it will be next year because we chose to go back to VLV (where I hope to see you...)!
ReplyDeleteI think that some outfit posts will be great, but a blog is so personal, do what you want and not what others expect to!!!
Thanks for the feedback Laurence! I always LOVE to see what outfits you are wearing! :)
DeleteYou should definitely come to London sometime, as it's so near! But yes, VLV first! I really hope we get to meet up there... :) xxx
It may seem corny, but I love a bit of impromptu dancing in the streets too! I think you are doing a great job with the blog - just keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteIt's not corny, it's FUN! I always wanted to meet someone who would dance in the streets with me, and my wish came true! :)
DeleteThanks for the props - I will keep up the good work as long as you do too! xx
