So, it’s that time of year again, when we are allowed – encouraged, even – to chow down on cakes, of the pan variety….
Happy pancake day!
This annual frying pan-fest, observed here in the UK, is more formally known as ‘Shrove Tuesday’. Traditionally, this is when you are supposed to eat your last big stodgy meal, using up the dairy, sugar and eggs in your kitchen before starting 40 days of lent the following day - ‘Ash Wednesday’. The actual date varies each year, depending on when Easter falls in the calendar.
I am still deciding on what kind of pancakes to eat tonight...last year I made some deeeeeeeeeelicious fluffy chocolate pancakes, but I may just go for the standard crepe style jobbie this time round, perhaps with sweet lemony cottage cheese, or apricot jam….decisions, decisions...
What type of pancakes are you eating today?

Pancakes are the best, & rightfully so should have their own day. I will be eating mine today with Nutella, of course. Yum!!
ReplyDeleteYum indeed Lolly! :) I ended up having mine with apricot jam, and cream cheese mixed with raisins, chopped dried apricots and lemon!
